WhatsApp spokesperson has said in a statement that the protection of users’ privacy is paramount for Meta and WhatsApp. Every activity of ours is done keeping the users in mind. We are fully aligned with the government’s objectives of protecting users.

For the past few days, the cases of spam calls from international numbers on the messaging app WhatsApp are increasing continuously. Users are constantly complaining about these spam calls through social media. The central government is also keeping an eye on these increasing complaints. But now WhatsApp has responded by issuing a statement on this matter.

WhatsApp spokesperson has said in a statement that the protection of users’ privacy is paramount for Meta and WhatsApp. Every activity of ours is done keeping the users in mind. We are fully aligned with the government’s objectives of protecting users.

He said that WhatsApp has always been ready to protect the users. We have provided users with a variety of safety tools, including the option of block and report. Along with this, we are also making efforts regarding the safety of the users and making them aware.

It was said in the statement that we are trying our best to prevent fraud through WhatsApp platform. But still cyber criminals find ways to cheat users. International scam calls are one such new method that cyber criminals are using. They give missed calls to users through WhatsApp and as soon as a user calls back or messages on that number, he becomes a victim of fraud.

It has been said in the statement that therefore we have prepared AI and ML systems to curb such incidents. These scams can be reduced by 50 percent through AI and ML systems.
